PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF RESIN-FILLED TURN-OUT SLAB TRACK

One of the greatest problems to be solved in practical application of the slab track is how to cope with the horizontal load exerted on the track without any protrusions which are difficult to install unlike the ordinary slab tracks. The conventional basic idea against this problem is to form a recess in the lower surface of a turn-out slab and fill it with a filler to utilize the strong shearing resistance of the filler. As such a filler, the synthetic resin high in shearing strength as compared with CA mortar and also high in bonding strength was selected for use with the turn-out slab track of Shinkansen. The turn-out slab track of this type was introduced in great amount to Tohoku and Joetsu Shinkansens.
