WORK IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT
WERKEN IN HET OPENBARE STADS EN STREEKVERVOER
The authors give a historical outline of the development of public transport from 1960 onwards. Special emphasis is put on the different aspects of work in the public transport sector. In this development two "turning points" are to be distinguished. Firstly around 1970 when for the first time the government began to subsidize public transport and around 1980 when it became apparent that this subsidization could no longer be increased. In this article special aspects of work are treated in municipal public transport and public transport in rural areas. Emphasis is put on working conditions and work environment. At the end of the article the authors develop a plan for the future where attention is given to the work force, the passengers and the entrepreneurs in public transport. (Author/TRRL)
