HOMOGENEITY, THE EFFECT OF ADAPTED ADVISORY SPEEDS ON TRAFFIC FLOWS

HOMOGENISEREN, EFFECT VAN AANGEPASTE ADVIESSNELHEDEN OP DE VERKEERSAFWIKKELING

During two trial periods adapted advisory speeds were shown to motorists on the A20 and A12 motorways in the Netherlands. This happened only during the peak hours and the aim was to improve stability of traffic flows. The measure was implemented and was monitored by the motorway control and signalling system on the spot. The effect of the measure on traffic flows has been studied and the results are presented.
