MANAGEMENT MOXIE AND GOOD SPREAD SPEED BIG PROJECT
Underbidding the next low bidder by $10 million takes courage. But finishing 81 percent of a 5.7 million cu. yd. job in one year takes operating knowhow and top rate equipment. That's what the Holloway Companies, Wixom, Michigan, displayed and accomplished in winning and working a $20.1 million contract in Maryland. The job involves the cutting of a 5.7 million cu. yd. notch in a hill that has, to date, made travel difficult and in bad weather, dangerous. A new alignment and paving follow the earth and rock excavation. The contract calls for blasting, removing and re-using almost all of the 5.7 million yd. of material.
