The constantly rising demand for road material of particular suitability for the demands imposed by motorways has given rise to modifications of bitumen by plastics with a view to obtaining grades warranting long-term imperviousness and resistance to deformation at the same time. Asphalts from such bitumen grades are particularly suitable for bridges and other structures, the pavements of which demand high performance.
