SOLUBILITY OF BITUMEN IN XYLENE. AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF VARIOUS FILTERS ON ANALYSIS RESULTS
LOESLIGHET AV BITUMEN I XYLEN. EN EXPERIMENTELL UNDERSOEKNING AV OLIKA FILTERS INVERKAN PAA ANALYSRESULTATET
ASTM D 2042 describes the determination of the solubility of bitumen in an organic solvent (trichlorethylene). In the 1981 version of this method, an earlier prescribed asbestos mat has been replaced by a glass fibre filter for working safety. To obtain an idea of how this change of filter affects analysis results a comparative investigation has been made. Xylene has been used as solvent. (Author/TRRL)
