UNIFORMITY OF TRUCK AND BUS TYRES FROM THE TECHNOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW
Numerous studies have been carried out of the problem of the uniformity of passenger car tyres. This paper concentrates on the uniformity of truck and bus tyres. Experience has shown that the problem of bus and truck tyre uniformity is equally important, especially in connection with increased safety and comfort requirements from bus and truck tyres. This paper describes an experiment where a series of experimental truck tyres were produced with built-in defects in the casing and tread area. The measured results indicate the effect of the built-in defects on uniformity values, and the effects of such a tyre on the vehicle. Measurement conditions (inflation pressure and radial load) were selected in accordance with the wheel operating conditions of the tyres on vehicles. The measured uniformity values (radial and lateral force variations, radial and lateral harmonic and conicity) were found to be functions of inflation.
