RURAL TRANSPORT STUDIES. VOLUME 1: DATA COLLECTION PROCEDURES AND DATA ASSEMBLY

This is the first of a three-volume series dealing with two projects: a) providing information about the amount of travel associated with various types of rural land use; and b) the effect that changes in the road user taxing system might have on rural traffic. This first volume describes the projects, their objectives, and the data collection methods used, as well as the form of the data bases so generated. The second volume presents results on land use and rural traffic generation patterns, and includes information on freight and personal trip generation by type of land use, size and location of farm, and type of enterprise. The third volume presents information relevant to the road user charges act and evaluates the possible effects of the new distance tax on transport costs and total costs for farmers of different types located in different areas. For abstracts of volumes 2 and 3 see TRIS 392315 and TRIS 392394. (TRRL)
