THE INFLUENCE OF CAR STRUCTURES BEHAVIOUR ON OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN CAR TO CAR SIDE IMPACT
Injury mechanisms and several parameters influencing side impact collisions are explained. The need for compatibility in geometry and stiffness between front and side is demonstrated, and a mobile deformable barrier representing an "average" European car could be used as a loading device to check improved protection in side impacts. For the covering abstract of the conference see TRIS 391971. (TRRL)
