DANES PIONEER 25 KV LOCO WITH THREE-PHASE MOTORS
The world's first 25 kV main line locomotive with three-phase traction motors was delivered on September 17 to Danish State Railways. A second prototype followed in October, and a further eight locos are to be delivered over the next two years. Designed for hauling fast inter-city trains, local passenger services and heavy freights, the four-axle Class EA has a continuous rating of 4000 kW at the wheel rim.
