THE USE OF ALUMINIUM IN TRANSPORT
ASPEKTE DES EINSATZES VON ALUMINIUM BEI DEN VERKEHRSTRAGERN
Aluminium has many advantages. It is light, weather and sea-resistant, resilient, fire-resistant and is a good heat and electricty conductor. The transport sector is the largest aluminium user in many countries, because of the advantages of its light weight. In railway rolling stock construction, aluminium can provide weight savings of 10 to 35% wagons and about 20% for coaches.
