A JOURNEY BY DESIGN. 2. THE SHAPES OF THINGS TO COME
The external appearance and interior design of new trains are a strong element in the marketing of British Rail services. Recently introduced suburban multiple-unit designs, in particular, have come under fire as inadequate in these respects. In this second article on BR design, the author discusses the current situation and looks at work in hand for the future for local and InterCity services. Some personal ideas are also expressed with regard to the future of the Pullman trains.
