CONCERNING PRODUCTIVITY IN THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT SECTOR

SULLA PRODUTTIVITA NEL SETTORE DEL TRASPORTE PUBBLICO DI PERSONE

In Italy public transport satisfies 21% of national mobility requirements. In terms of mileage the public ownership companies account for 45% of public transport, with 31% of costs contributed by user revenue, and 69% coming from the taxpayer. This article outlines an approach designed to optimise the use of resources by a more rational use of equipment, staff and facilities, and a correct economy of scale as determined by technological, organisational and financial factors.
