DISPERSED CURRENTS AND THE DANGERS OF CORROSION IN REINFORCING IRONWORK OF VIADUCTS AND TUNNELS
This article faces the problem of currents dispersed from railway and metropolitan electric traction installations with particular reference to the dangers of corrosion of the iron structures for tunnels and viaducts. The results are given in graphic form of a careful parametric survey which can be of valid assistance in the design of the building works. At the same time indications are given on the measures necessary for the control of the dispersions in order to prevent the causes and carry out the timely remedies. It is brought out how the phenomenon in question can be sufficiently controlled by making use of suitable measures of difference of potential. It is thus possible, in relation to the installation parameters, to identify the limit potential value which should not be exceeded in order to acquire sufficient safety with regard to the dangers of corrosion.
