A LOOK AT CAR ARBITRATION
Arbitration is a legal process in which two or more people agree to permit a third person to decide a dispute between them. Auto Line is the Better Business Bureau's arbitration program established in 1978 to settle disputes between consumers and certain automobile manufacturers which have pledged in advance to arbitrate complaints about their products and repairs if mediation efforts fail. Using an actual case of arbitration, this article describes in detail the procedure followed, selecting arbitrators, preparing the case, and what happens when the consumer wins.
