CONCERNING THE BEHAVIOUR ON CURVES OF A THREE WHEELED VEHICLE UNDER THE ACTION OF CENTRIFUGAL FORCE ALONE
CONSIDERAZIONI SUL COMPORTAMENTO IN CURVA DI UN VEICOLO A TRE RUOTE SOTTO L'AZIONE DELLA SOLA FORZA CENTRIFUGA
The study of its behaviour on curves is essential to the design of three wheeled vehicles (two driven wheels at the back and one steered wheel at the front). Since the vehicle is very lightly loaded on the front wheel, it is necessary to evaluate the effects of weight distribution on the sideways reactions to centrifugal force. A mathematical model is developed which links the centre of gravity position with the trajectory and the carriageway surface, thus providing a useful design approach regarding the weight distribution of such vehicles.
