EFFECTIVE DRIFT CONTROL HELPS WIN THE BATTLE AGAINST WINTER

Cold temperatures, snow and ice create a multitude of maintenance problems in keeping highways and streets clear. It is a multi-faceted job, and a variety of equipment must be utilized to accomplish this task. But one problem can be handled by all departments long before winter--drift control. The problem of drifting, blowing snow can be alleviated, if not eradicated, by using either natural or manufactured wind breaks in open areas susceptible to drifting. Both types of wind breaks and their applications are discussed in the article.
