RELIABILITY ANALYSIS OF SIMPLY-SUPPORTED COMPOSITE BEAMS
A statistical analysis of simply-supported composite beams designed to Australian Standard AS 2327, part 1-1980 is presented. Estimates of various components of variability based on available experimental data are given. From the analyses of the shear and flexural strengths of composite beams, the safety index for the flexural strength of simply-supported composite beams designed to the current code is found to vary from 4 to 4.7, while that for shear strength varies from 4.5 to 5.5.
