FLASHOVER PHENOMENA OF POLLUTED INSULATORS
Over the years, several mathematical models have been proposed for predicting the critical withstand voltage of polluted insulators, mainly based on the static are voltage-gradient. The paper proposes a new mathematical model which is based on a dynamic arc voltage-gradient equation. Comparison of computed results with the results obtained from other mathematical models, as well as experiments, indicates a good agreement in respect of individual suspension/disc insulators. However, some disparity is observed in respect of long-rod insulators.
