WATER TABLE DEPRESSION UNDER TREED AREAS AND SWELL SUBSEQUENT TO FELLING
Two cases are described where trees have lowered the water table by several metres over an extensive area. The fact that the water table has been depressed and is likely to rise once the trees are removed is not always obvious. The consequences of restablishment of the water table over an extensive area are examined. (Author/TRRL)
