VERTICAL ILLUMINANCE AS A CRITERION FOR ENERGY-EFFECTIVE TUNNEL LIGHTING DESIGN

Experiments and measurements are described which support the conclusion that lighting geometrics favoring vertical illuminance will result in enhancement of the effective visibility conditions for detection of foreign objects with considerably lower energy requirements when compared to the presently recommended design practice.
