SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL EQUIPMENT

It is very obvious that road users may rely on the proper performance of traffic lights. It therefore is necessary that strict specifications be devised for the mechanical and electronic components. Safeguards should prevent conflicting signals from being shown which result from breakdowns of the equipment. The article deals with ways and means by which proper functioning is controlled. (TRRL)
