ARRB RESEARCH AND INFORMATION AND ITS RELEVANCE TO THE NORTHERN TERRITORY

The paper discusses the operations of ARRB and how its services and facilities may be used by people with an interest in roads. It begins by describing the objectives of ARRB and then addresses two key queries: (a) how should a person go about answering a technical query relating to roads? (b) how does ARRB go about meeting its objectives? In the course of answering these two questions, it will be shown that they are closely related. This is, that a prime purpose of ARRB is to provide people with answers to road related questions. In doing this the paper makes it clear that a prime part of ARRB's role is to disseminate the results of other people's research, as well as our own. The paper spends considerable time explaining to readers how they might best set up their own information systems to take maximum advantage of ARRB's services--despite the locality or organisation size of the unit involved.
