SURFACE WATER DRAINAGE IN THE REMOTE AREAS OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA
This paper discusses the steps taken by the Main Roads Department (MRD) to improve knowledge of flooding and develop methods of estimating floods from ungauged catchments in the remote areas of Western Australia. Details are given of the methods of flood estimation used or under development by the MRD and the design philosophy adopted in designing waterways to minimise the effects of the uncertainties in the design flood.
