AUTOMATIC RECORDING AND DATA PROCESSING OF LABORATORY SOILS TESTS
A system for automatic recording and data processing of triaxial, direct shear and one-dimensional consolidation tests is described. The system is composed of commercially available units supplied by different manufacturers and can be operated by an experienced soils laboratory technician. It has been used for routine tests over a period of some four years and has proved to be generally reliable. The test results are of a uniformly high standard and produced in a form which can be incorporated directly into reports. Significant savings of laboratory technician time have been made in carrying out these tests. The cost of the equipment is likely to be recovered within an acceptable period. (Author/TRRL)
