MEASUREMENTS OF VISCOSITY AT 60 C WITH REGARD TO THE RHEOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR AND THE SHEAR SUSCEPTIBILITY OF ROAD BITUMEN

The author has measured three different road bitumens by means of vacuum capillary and rotational viscosimeters as "multi-point" instruments. Based on the performed analysis the flow curves of these bitumens seem to be exponential. The extrapolation of the viscosity values with regard to the speed of angle extension depends considerably upon the workability of bitumen and the form of cracks. The author suggests that the lower point of temperature should be where road bitumen shows characteristics of Newtonian behaviour. (TRRL)
