FANCHER ROAD BRIDGE
Precast prestressed concrete girders and deck panels offered the ideal solution for this highway bridge which crosses a railroad reclassification yard in Spokane County, Washington. The bridge is 679 ft (207 m) long and 59 ft 5 in. (18.1 m) wide. A total of 45 prestressed girders (Washington Series) was used. The gross area of the bridge is 40,000 sq ft (3720 sq m). The total number of prestressed deck panels used was 1336, comprising an area of 28,500 sq ft (2650 sq m). The precast prestressed concrete products proved to be economical, reliable, functional, and safe. This complex bridge was built at a total cost of 1,520,000 or a unit price of 38.000 per sq ft ($408/sq m). The project was completed and opened to traffic 22 days ahead of the 290-day contract time. The total price was 1.3 percent under the original bid.
