FRAUDULENT HIGHWAY CONTRACT CLAIMS
Most states do not have civil statutes which deal specifically with fraudulent claims by contractors. Therefore, the only penalty for dishonesty is failure to recover, and public agencies are sometime forced to waste time and money in defending litigation on such claims. This article reviews the Hawaii statute and the New Federal Contract Disputes Acts provisions that deal with this problem and advocates other states adopting statutes modeled after them.
