SOME CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE EVALUATION OF A DRIVER BREATH TESTING SCHEME
The implementation of a "random" breath testing scheme as a traffic safety initiative is discussed, with particular emphasis on the evaluation of an initial trial period. The major features of such an evaluation are outlined and the many practical considerations likely to influence it are discussed. Shortcomings in the data necessary for a thorough evaluation are identified and the actions required to remedy these are indicated. The schedule and general design approach of the evaluation exercise are outlined.
