CITYBUS IN BORAAS

CENTRUMBUSS I BORAAS. FOERFLYTTNINGSBEHOV OCH FOERSLAG TILL UTFOERANDE

A part of the model-town project Boraas is to investigate the conditions for starting a special city traffic system in the middle-sized towns through a full-scale study. The main traffic purpose of the Citybus is to connect parking facilities, transit terminals and railway stations with the central business district. The fare is usually 1/4 to 1/5 of the normal bus charge in the town. A small survey was the best method to investigate the travel pattern in central Boraas. During two days in February 1982, 446 interviews were conducted. After test driving and examining the different alternatives, four of them were selected. Finally alt 8 was chosen as being the best. Alt 8 is a 1.7 miles long loop where two minibuses are needed with a round-trip transit time of 15 minutes. An overall special fare was chosen. (TRRL)
