PRODUCTIVITY AND EFFICIENCY STUDIES ON BEST AND WORST PERFORMANCE OF URBAN BUS TRANSIT SYSTEMS
The objective of this research project is to investigate the variability within a very limited number of performance measures of urban bus transit systems. The performance measures focus on vehicle productivity, on effectiveness of use, on efficiency of operations, on labor productivity, on operating conditons, and on expense allocations. The variability is explored in terms of potential relationships with system's size, the occurrence of consistent "best" and "worst" performances in the field, and with a number of factors that characterize the operational environment within which the systems perform.
