FATALITY TRENDS. CAR SIZE
This report is one of a bimonthly series which presents data from the Fatal Accident Reporting System (FARS). Data concerning the weight distribution of passenger cars in which fatalities occurred are considered, as well as the relative rate of involvement per registered passenger car in 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1981; the 1982 fatal involvements per thousand 1982 towaway accident involvements; and the fatal passenger car weight distribution from 1500 to 5000 pounds by body type. The weight of passenger cars in which fatalities occurred by year of accident and by body type are also considered.
