BEFORE AND AFTER ACCIDENT STUDY AFTER LOW COST ENGINEERING WORKS AT BLACKSITES
This report updates to 1 January 1984 the previous report HCC T292/1 and its supplement (see TRIS abstract no. 373252). The number of sites treated has increased to 189, and the estimate of casualty saving now exceeds the thousand mark. The overall accident reduction is 28%. The discounted rate of return is 708%, using 7% over 5 years only, compared with 30 years for major highway schemes. The total apparent accident saving is 284 accidents per year or 7% of the present county total. (TRRL)
