MECHANISTIC ANALYSES OF GRANULAR BASE PAVEMENTS
MEGANISTIESE ONTLEDINGS VAN KORRELKROONPLAVEISELS
This report contains examples of mechanistic analyses of pavements and the applications of these analyses. A sensitivity analysis is used to investigate the influence of variation in input values. The computer program ELSYM5 is used for linear-elastic analyses. The FEPAVE3 program is used for non-linear analyses of pavements -these are found to give a better explanation of pavement behaviour. The behaviour of a pavement can be predicted with the aid of mechanistic analyses and consequently the analyses can be used to plan hvs (heavy vehicle simulator) tests. The equivalency factor is determined by means of linear analyses. (TRRL)
