OPTIMIZATION OF STRAIGHT PRESTRESSED MEMBERS IN CONCRETE STRUCTURES

OPTIMALIZACIJA SISTEMA PREDNAPREGNUTIH PRAVIH STAPOVA U BETONSKIM KONSTRUKCIJAMA

The paper outlines a procedure for optimization of the prestressing force based on a linear approach to the problem and on the use of linear programming in an iterative process. A structure of known dimensions, materials and stages of construction is observed. The model of the structure is approximated by means of finite elements to a beam girder. The limits refer to the structure behaviour and to the shape of the cable curve. The calculation comprises all losses of and reductions in prestressing force. The optimization results in the minimum prestressing force and optimum position of the cable curve. In the first part, basic calculations of the elastic, homogeneous state are presented. In the second part, a modelling procedure for prestressing, which is suitable for use with an electronic plotter for curve drawing and cable plan drawing is presented. The third part outlines the optimization procedure which follows the presented procedure of the prestressing modelling and the calculation of various forces against the influence of prestressing. Finally, the optimization results are presented in an example of a continuous road bridge. (TRRL)
