The book consists of two volumes and comprises works by 52 authors in the field of rock mechanics, design, construction and maintenance of structures built in rocks. The content is divided into 12 chapters. The first volume deals with basic geological engineering and geophysical investigations of rocks, basic rock mechanics, landslides, rock improvements and foundations in rock. The second volume deals with geotechnical models, design of traffic tunnels, design of hydrotechnical tunnels, design and construction of underground chambers with large cross-sections, calculation and design of linings, construction of underground structures, and maintenance of structures built in rocks.
