ADMIXTURES FOR CONCRETE
This publication is an introduction and general guide to the use of admixtures. It describes the various types available, including pigments, and outlines their effect on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete. Particular emphasis is given to the advantages and disadvantages of the admixtures, and to the effects on durability. The main types of admixture used in concrete are: water-reducing, retarding, air-entraining, superplasticizing, waterproofing admixtures, and pigments. Specialized admixtures are: bonding aids, expanding admixtures, pumping aids, mortar plasticizers, foaming agents, water-retentive admixtures, fungicidal admixtures, corrosion inhibitors. (TRRL)
