SAE-A'S PROPOSED FURTHER STUDY OF TRUCK FUEL CONSUMPTION METHODS AND COMPUTER MODELS EVALUATION
The Society of Automotive Engineers--Australasia (SAE-A) has an ambitious program to develop and demonstrate an expanded range of truck and bus fuel consumption test procedures and to take the results directly into the point of-sale decision-making arena (truck sales rooms) via computer modelling techniques. A request for support grant funds has been made to the National Energy Research Development and Demonstration Council to supplement resources already pledged to this program. If the government funds are approved, significant new understandings of truck fuel consumption--and thus very real distillate savings--will flow to the nation from this program. (Author/TRRL)
