JERNACULAR TAXICABS: JITNEYS AND GYPSIES IN URBAN AMERICA
The thrust of this bibliography is on jitneys and gypsies. Because of their nature, a few of the items in this volume refer to taxis and to urban transportation and the poor. Most of the entries in this volume are newspaper articles and reports. This is because there is a noticeable dearth of scholarly studies of the vernacular forms. Such studies that do exist deal with the original jitney as a historical phenomenon or with the policy issue of deregulation. (Author)
