DOING RESEARCH IN FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION LAW

Following the passage of the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887, the Air Commerce Act of 1926, and the Shipping Act of 1916, a complex body of federal transportation law has developed in the United States. These laws affect the rights and duties of the transportation industry and thereby have an impact on commerce and the public. This guide is intended to assist the layman and non-transportation law practitioner in beginning his or her legal research. Using as a broad outline the topics of air, maritime, and surface transportation systems, this guide focuses on the three basic sources of the law in these areas: the Congress, the courts, and the executive branch. Finally, there is an extensive, though selective, bibliography of transportation law treatise and periodical literature, and other basic transportation law research sources. (Author)
