SAN FRANCISCO VESSEL TRAFFIC SYSTEM TEST OF THE AUTOMATIC DETECTION AND TRACKING SUBSYSTEMS

A test and evaluation program of the Vessel Traffic System for the San Francisco Bay area is being reported. Tests have been completed that compare the new VTS with that of the previous Harbor Advisory Radar and evaluate the VTS manual radar operation. This report presents the results of performance and parameter measurement tests made on the automatic detection and tracking (ADT) subsystems of the VTS.
