EFFECTS OF TWO BYPASS PROJECTS. RESULTS OF AN INQUIRY AMONG RESIDENTS AND MANUFACTURERS IN THE AREAS CONCERNED

Two bypass projects have been studied before and after construction, primarily regarding environmental effects and traffic safety. The effects on trade and industry were also investigated. The results of the inquiry are compared with the effects measured or estimated by the Swedish national road administration. Some differences were found. In the studied cases 40 per cent and 57 per cent, respectively, of the total traffic is using the bypasses. The number of lorries is higher on the bypasses than on the old roads. (TRRL)
