PAVED ROAD PARTICULATE EMISSIONS: SOURCE CATEGORY REPORT
The report gives results of extensive field tests to develop emission factors for particulate emissions generated by traffic entrainment of paved road surface particulate matter. Using roadway surface silt loading as the basis, predictive emission factor equations for each particle size range were derived. To facilitate the use of these particle-size specific equations in developing emission inventories, a classification system was derived of mean or typical silt loadings as a function of roadway category. These mean silt loadings were then inserted into the respective emission factor equations for specific roadway categories and particle size fractions.
