CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW FEDERALLY FINANCED RAIL SYSTEM IN MIAMI, FLA
Construction practices for the initial segments of the transit line of Miami Metrorail were the topic of a Congressional hearing. Questions had arisen about the quality of work-in-place and about construction management procedures. The role of UMTA in monitoring projects which it had financed and of local agencies for assuring the design and quality of the facilities for which they had received funding were investigated. The hammerhead pier caps for the elvated structure were a major target of the study. Testimony and submissions on many phases of the Metrorail construction project are included.
