POSSIBLE DEVELOPMENT IN VEHICLE OWNERSHIP 1983-1990
MOGELIJKE ONTWIKKELINGEN PERSONENAUTOPARK 1983-1990
The possible developments of car ownership in the Netherlands during the 1983 to 1990 period are estimated. On the basis of the results the growth of car ownership will be about -1% to +6%. the number of cars will be then 4.6 million to 4.9 million. Car ownership as a percentage of the population between 18 and 74 years old will be 43% to 46%. Factors which can influence these figures are the economic recession, lower incomes, higher production costs of the car, costs of maintenance and fuel prices. The effects of an eventual mandatory vehicle inspection are uncertain, as are the effects of anti-pollution measures. (TRRL)
