A STUDY OF ACCIDENT OCCURRENCE-CLONTARF ROAD 1976-1980
This report gives the characteristics of the road section studied and the types of accidents recorded: single vehicle-pedestrian, single vehicle-other object, two vehicle collisions, other collisions. Accidents on wet roads are not a particularly severe problem here, but accidents in darkness are a very severe problem, particularly in respect of single vehicle collisions with objects on and off the road and two car collision. The overall number of single vehicle collisions is high and the severity of those which involve collisions with lighting columns is extremely high. On-site observations are reported as are vehicle speeds and skid resistance measurements. Some recommendations are put forward. (TRRL)
