PROPOSALS FOR DANGEROUS SUBSTANCES (CONVEYANCE BY ROAD IN PACKAGES ETC) REGULATIONS 198- . CONSULTATIVE DOCUMENT

Dangerous substances are conveyed by road in a variety of ways, from small boxes to tanker loads. Bulk transport (usually the highest risk) is covered by the Dangerous Substances (conveyance by road in road tankers and tank containers) Regulations 1981 (s.i. 1981/1059). The present proposals are designed to complement those regulations by extending controls to all other methods of conveying dangerous substances by road, including hopper and tipper vehicles as well as vehicles carrying small tank containers, drums, carboys, sacks, cartons etc., where capacity of the individual receptacle is 200 litres or more.
