STUDY OF PROPAGATION VELOCITY OF FATIGUE CRACKS

Results are presented from studies of the rate of development of cracks and the relationship of this stage of fatigue rupture to the overall durability of specimens. The rate of propagation of fatigue cracks was studied as a function of the geometric parameters of the specimen. In order to study the influence of length, specimens were made of D-16AT alloy 3 mm thick. The length of the gage (calculated) portion of the specimens was 125,725 and 1225 mm, the width of an aperture 5 mm in diameter. (Author)
