DANGER ON THE ROAD: THE NEEDLESS SCOURGE. A STUDY OF OBSTACLES TO PROGRESS IN ROAD SAFETY

After considering the official treatment of accidents and its adequacy, the authors examine selected issues: motorcycling, lowering of vehicle speeds, small-scale road engineering schemes, cycling, transport policy and the volume and pattern of road traffic, land-use and locational planning, design of residential areas, and institutions. The studies required to reveal the extent and importance of unsafe conditions on the roads are outlined in an appendix. (TRRL)
