CYCLE ACCIDENTS IN AMSTERDAM
FIETSONGEVALLEN IN AMSTERDAM
By order of the municipality of Amsterdam a study has been made into the development of traffic hazards for cyclists in Amsterdam during the period 1977-1980, and into the distribution of this insecurity within the city, and on the type of road in relationship with traffic counts. It is shown that the risk for cyclists of being injured has remained almost the same during this period over the whole city of Amsterdam as well as in the different regions. Half of all cyclist-victims are 25 years or younger. Half of all accidents occur on junctions; at weekends there are fewer victims than during weekdays. (TRRL)
